The Noosa Great Trail Walk is a magical way to enjoy our hinterland, farmlands, national parks, lookouts and historic villages. From September 30 to October 2 you can be part of 150 walkers on this guided trail walk leisurely taking in the villages of Cooroy, Kin Kin, Cooran and Pomona with spectacular scenery and lookouts through to the ocean and lakes.
You complete this at your own pace enjoying the cafes, country pubs, antique shops, local characters, landscapes and lookouts along the way. You need to be reasonably fit but there’s plenty of time each day to complete the day’s walk and trail guides provide asistance and information about history and landscape.
Day 1: Start from the lakeside amphitheatre in Noosa Botanical Gardens by Lake Macdonald. Walk through rainforest and farmland to Kin Kin, taking in Twin Hills and Wahpunga Range with stunning views of farmland, mountains, Noosa Heads and the lakes.
Day 2: Follow the valleys of Kin Kin Creek before climbing up the rainforest plateau of Woondum National Park. Rest at the James McKane Lookout before descending into the historical village of Cooran.
Day 3: Mountain peaks and antique shopping in country villages – 20 km. Walk through Mt Tuchekoi National Park to base of Mt Cooroora, a great but safe challenge for the reasonably fit. Explore Pomona’s antique shops, gallery and cafes, or have a refreshing drink at the historic Pomona Hotel. The Great Noosa Trail Walk finishes at the Old Railway Station Gallery.
